The London Photographic Meetup Group is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, London based photography club with over 1000 members from all over London and beyond. We hold multiple meetings every month; events planned to teach photographic skills with regular workshops, events that take you in and around London to practice your hobby with other members and purely social evenings where we can relax with friends over a beer or two. We are a not-for-profit organisation; all the organsiers do this because we love it. None of us are professional photographers and we all have full time day-jobs so this is our hobby too.
Competitions
We run regular competitions, including the LPMG Photographer of the Year award, which this year offers a £800 prize to the winner. With a total prize pot of £1500 this years competition is a must to enter.
Points are awarded by a pannel of judges who have been hand picked for their skill and integrity. The judges will award a rating between one and five stars to your photograph. At the end of the month, the total score will be added up and % points will be awarded to each participent. That may sound a little complicated, but the end result is that points awarded to the PotY score on a monthly basis are small. This means that even if you come into the competition at a very late stage, if you present the judges with a stunning image you'll walk away with enough points to get you into the running.
At the end of the year, having gone through ten rounds of monthly competitions, the top four competitors will be invited for a day out in London to compile a portfolio of images that you, the members, will judge. The winner of the final shoot-out in December will be the winner of the PotY 2009 competition.

Events
The LPMG.ORG.UK meetup site has all the details of the official events we run. If you would like to join in with these events then pop over and join up. You'll immediately have access to a calendar with listings of all the latest official group events and will be notified of new events by e-mail as they are posted.

Forum (members can keep up to date with the LPMG on-line community action, which includes polls, tips and tricks and news of official, and unofficial meetup events run by the members themselves.
